What is a Guesthouse?
The Portland International Guesthouse offers European-style accommodations for the budget minded, independent traveler. Our facilities include four clean, comfortable, private bedrooms that share three baths. Unlike a hotel or some B&Bs, we do not have a front desk, nor do we prepare meals. The guesthouse managers live on premises and are close by if needed.
Do I need to bring my own linens?
We provide all pillows, sheets, towels, etc. in both the Guesthouse and Flanders apartment. Due to safety and lodging regulations, we cannot allow guests to bring in their own pillows & linens.
Do you have WIFI?
Yes, free WIFI is provided in all areas of our guesthouse and Flanders apartment
Do you provide parking?
Our neighborhood streets are metered. They operate from 9am to 7pm. The cost is $2 per hour. We have a limited number of permits allowing guests to park on the street without feeding meters. These can be reserved in advance. The fee is $10 per day. We register the verhhicles plate number. Please note, this is a dense neighborhood and parking reflects that.
What are your policies for pets and small children?
We are unable to accommodate children under the age of five years. Also, due to allergies, we are unable to accommodate any pets.
Are your rooms non-smoking?
The entire Guesthouse (including all porches, our driveway, the terrace and our Flanders apartment) are totally non-smoking and flame-free (no candles, incense, etc.).
Are your rooms air conditioned?
Yes, we install air conditioners in each bedroom once the summer temperatures arrive.
Where is your front desk?
We don't have a front desk as you find in a hotel. The guesthouse managers live in the building and are close by if needed.
What time is check-out and is there luggage storage?
Check-out is 11am. We offer late checkouts occasionally, however considering the size of the guesthouse we are more likely to offer luggage storage
When can I check in?
Guest check-in is 2PM. Flanders apartment check-in is 3PM. If you plan to arrive before 2PM, please contact us in advance. If your room isn't ready when you arrive, we can easily store your luggage until the room is ready for you.
Do you cook breakfast?
We provide guests with milk, juice, cereals, bread, jam, jelly, tea & coffee. You are welcome to store food in the guesthouse refrigerator. Our kitchen is fully stocked with plates, glassware, cutlery, toaster, microwave oven, coffee maker and electric water kettle.
Can I do laundry at the Guesthouse?
We are unable to provide laundry services. You'll find several dry cleaners and one coin operated laundromat within 6 blocks of the Guesthouse.
Do your rooms have private bathrooms?
The Guesthouse has three bathrooms that are shared by our six bedrooms. None of our six bedrooms have a private bath.
Do you have a curfew?
No curfew. As a courtesy to all guests, after 10PM (and before 9AM) we ask that conversations in rooms and in all common areas (kitchen, terrace, siting/TV room, etc.) be kept low as your fellow guests might very well be sleeping.
Do your rooms have televisions or telephones?
None of our rooms have a TV or telephone.
Are toiletries provided?
You'll find body wash and hand soap in each bath along with a hair dryer. An iron and ironing board are found just off the kitchen. Please note that there are several grocery stores and pharmacies within a five minute walk from our door if you need other bath related items.
Are your close to public transportation?
Yes, we are located one block from two bus lines. We are six blocks from the Portland Street Car and six blocks from the nearest Trimet Max Train stop (Providence Park).
Can you walk to downtown from your location?
Yes, reaching Pioneer Courthouse Square (what folks consider the heart of downtown) is an enjoyable and approx. 20 minute (according to Google Maps) walk.
Do you rent bikes?
Biketown is Portland's bike share organization. The locations are located throughout the city. There is one located one block from the guesthouse. In addition, there are several other bike rental companies located throughout the city
